Default What Prod Co's Actually DO Accept Email Queries?

I'm just curious if there's any companies that welcome a cold e-query?

All of them -- if you have a compelling logline they will request the script.

90% of them only list a snail mail address and a general phone number in the HCD.

Circle of Confusion and Neo Art & Logic both accept queries through their websites (does that count as an email query?) There are quite a few, you just have to find them.

This is not true.

Almost every reputable company in town has a clear policy against unsolicited submissions.

Go through the Creative Directory (hcdonline.com) and they'll say what the policy is. Most will say they have an eMail address for pitches or an online form, but by far the most effective method is still calling. And the companies that read query letters are going to be low to mid budget producers, so watch for what their track records are and which script is appropriate to query. YMMV. There are no shortcuts, just lots and lots of sales work, so good luck!

You need to make the distinction between an unsolicited submission and a query. An unsolicited submission means sending the script without being invited to and everyone has that policy. Whether or not someone reads cold queries is a different issue.

The bigger and more prestigious the studio/prodco/agent/manager, the less likely they will look at any cold query. But an increasing number are going the way of the big tv networks and accepting pitches via an online form, or have an email address for queries.

Hustling and perfecting the art of the cold call ninja are still the best skills of all, but only a few writers are really skilled at this. Have I digressed yet?

That's funny, 'cause I just went through a spate of bounced-back 'undeliverables' from some of the 'submission' or 'info' email addresses I found searching here - kaplanperrone, hmlit, pleshette (I think), and also a few 'initialdotlastname@' configurations (at paradigm & elsewhere).

Thought they were closing down, rather than opening up! Or do they turn them on & off, depending on whether they're looking or not at that moment? I've often wondered...

It's true that the smaller co.s, looking for small budget projects are more open, and that's probably the best way to start. Inkwell, for ex, lists plenty looking for $1M budget scripts of different genres. But mine would be inappropriate...(stupid me!)

Did I miss some addresses updated over the past 6 months, by any chance? Limama?

You and Nathanq sound like "can't do" people. Those are the ones who give advice when they haven't even tried themselves.
