Anyone remember David S. Goyer publicly criticising Silver Pictures because they issued Coke in mini-bottles?

frankly, i kindof hate this thread - which i havent read other than the OP- sorry, im a hater - but i had a similar experince that i was musing on just today. then saw this thread, realized my musing could go here... and as an offering for laying my **** on your thread, i will re- tell my best water story - dude just got a HUUUGE deal, i have a meeting, i go and take a water - thirsty as hell, and in la, after driving for an hour or more, the water is a damn nice thing. you can make fun of it but when you have five meetings in a day and no lunch, its a good thing - anyhoo dude's water has a line drawing of him on it. its HIS water.

so thats my story offering. my musing is this. i have had ten meetings in two weeks. i always, for years, have tipped the valet dudes at studio lots. weirdly, i noticed at one, then two, then the third... no one else was tipping dude. like really. three guys ahead of me, at each one. and they're visitors. they are not folks with deals who tip big at xmas, or whatever they do. they are non tippers. for a sec, i felt ghetto. wondered what do you do? then, i answered my own post. i think too much. here is three bucks. holly, out.

I don't think you should tip them. Do you tip the security guard at your workplace? It's not a hotel, restaurant or theater, isn't it.

On the topic of overthinking, I saw my boss in a corridor three weeks ago. He shook my hand but he gave me like only half-length of his fingers... you know what I mean.

Oh god, I hate those weak ass handshakes. I literally feel nauseous at the thought of them.

Next time scoff and say "It's the 21st century, I don't want no ****ing water" then demand a hydration tablet.

well, no, its not. and its not like the security guard who is a paid employee of the building. its often a service that is licensed out to private companies that pay immigrants a small sum to run back and forth in the LA heat to bring you your car. and who look at you with profound relief when you give them three bucks. which is why i did it and will continue to do so, even if no one else in the que does. thank you for making it clearer to me.

Last time I was forced to valet he backed my car into another car that was pulling out. He still seemed to expect a tip. I did not tip.

Most security guards are hired through security companies and make around $10 an hour if they are lucky.

Give 'em a tip for keeping you safe.
