Loved many of Mike's films. CARNAL KNOWLEDGE my personal favorite.

Great director. Interesting that everyone seems to have a personal favorite among his films. Mine's is CLOSER. So sexy and disturbing. He will be missed.

CLOSER is very good. Clive killed that role.

Nichols a master at directing actors and getting the best out of them.

            Re: Mike Nichols, RIP

Sad news. He was a wonderful director, really one of the greats, and perhaps achieved less recognition than he deserved because he eschewed celebrity.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf is a personal favorite. Biloxi Blues has cinema's best ever loss-of-virginity sequence as well as Neil Simon's clever (self) homage to writers. I cried and cried at the ending of The Day of The Dolphin. The rest of his work was good in many different ways and Nichols was especially good with actors.

RIP Mike. You really were special, a professional from the age of gentlemen and a thoroughly nice person to deal with.

              Major loss.

Freaky to think that two of his most memorable actors, P. S. Hoffman in Charlie Wilson's War and Robin Williams in the Bird Cage, also passed on recently. If there is an afterlife, hopefully the three of them are partying together.

To me comedy was his metier. Who's Afraid is great but it is Albee. Either way he's one of those legacy individuals. He's gone but lives on through all he left behind.
