What's the best line of action now that querying managers seems a waste of time?

          This. Always this.

Don't let any changing tide in the industry dictate your efforts to get yourself and your material out there, and keep writing.

            Write more stuff?

Have you ever considered it is the ginormous backlog of unsolicited material that is the problem?

If there were only two spec scripts in whole world, there'd be a bidding war and the winning bidders would polished those suckers until the shined like new chrome...even if they were crap.

              no, that's not the problem.

if there were only two specs in the world they'd be pieces of $hit. some smart writerly person would immediately write a script. competition is good for commerce.

                Re: WGA Firings

I posed this very question to Adam Kolbrenner in the last episode of my podcast.

Short answer: It probably depends on the rep, but overall WGA-ATA situation doesn't change anything, at least for most managers. Reps are always searching for great material and new clients. Managers are busier right now and so the delay in getting to your material might be a little longer, but he says they're always looking.

It's definitely not a good time but that doesn't mean you should slow down.
