  • Bart Simpson gets "notes"

Jokes on the Simpsons continue to mirror my life.

I've been getting "notes" from a manager for the first time ever. So in the recent episode "Hardly Kirk-ing," Lisa enters Bart's room.
Bart is at his desk, with a paper and pencil.

    LISA
Bart, come on, I need your help with something!

    BART
Not now, I just got notes from Nelson on my latest prank.

    The sheet of paper reads:

    KICK ME

(IN THE BUTT) ? <--- is this necessary?

    Bart erases the extraneous line.

So great. how many average viewers would even that joke?

Nice. Mike Myers must have experienced some form of catharsis in his Austin Powers Goldmember movie in which he proclaims Spielberg's opening scene groovy, but has a few notes.

Could just as easily be viewed as a reference to a schoolteacher correcting a paper for non-writers.

Yes, actually. People might take this as an invitation to kick the bearer of the note in the head. Or worse, the balls. Can't have that. Takes the fun out of the joke.
