  • 1 Paragraph of Creativity

    Hello

I am stuck. I can't produce anything. I need a writing exercise that aims to get a paragraph of text out onto paper.

Does anybody have an interesting idea for the exercise?

    Thank you!

I just tried the cookie exercise and feel a bit uplifted after bashing out a paragraph of nonsense.

      Next exercise please!

        Write about your favourite pet.
Write about a food you love, or one you hate.

I just tried the pet paragraph the food paragraph and the walmart interview.

The interview was the hardest. Writing the dialogue didn't come easily. I found it hard to do the interview but am glad I bashed one out.

I am still raring to go on another exercise. More please!

I managed a paragraph on pi recursively too and am feeling a lot less seized up and much more oiled and ready to create something.

I am still ready for more exercises if anybody has one.

Look up, spot an object in the room, and write what life is like from that object's point of view.

Maybe try some fanfic using characters from your fave TV show, movie, or novel? Just for fun's sake, to crank out a few words. What would Kirk say to Spock if... <what if? scenario>

I tried the object high in the room. I wrote about something sinister up there
                      Thanks for the idea.

Now onto some fanfic - thanks dpaterso.

I am already feeling more confident and less unproductive.

Now for a serious response. Don't start writing with the intention of writing about anything in particular. Sit down and start writing for 10-15 minutes, without stopping to think or plan or reflect. Just write whatever words come out of your fingers at the time and don't concern yourself with how coherent it is or whether it makes sense. Most importantly, write honestly, without fear or self-censorship. Do this every day for a couple of weeks and see where it takes you. No, really.
