Default I just got a rejection...

Wow,

I just got a reply back from an email query I sent to a company. I sent the query in April of 2006. It took them a 1 1/2 to get to me. This is, so far, the longest time it has taken to get a response from a company. I wonder if they were cleaning out their inbox, and came across my email?

What has been the longest time between emailing a query and getting a response that anyone has experienced?

If you're not worried about burning bridges, email them back and say:

That's okay, I sold this script last year.

If only that were true...

A writer I know once sent a manuscript to a publisher. She waited and waited, and eight months later she gave them a call. The manuscript had been used to prop up a table leg. "It's just the right size," they told her.

She went on to become one of the top writers in the UK and is now a Dame.

Did she use that as a cover blurb? "Perfect for propping up a table leg!"

Actually, the company that had it eventually published it, and her career was launched. But it is a good blurb (and it made a funny story when I went to interview her).
