Default Seeking Guidance

My partner and I created an automotive reality TV show. I registered it a short time ago with the W.G.A. As you can tell by my name (Green Horn) I’m new to this industry. We are ready to pitch the show and need your advice.

Is it better to contact a production company or directly to the cable channel/network?

I’ve been reading the section on loglines. Would it be acceptable to use the following as a Logline? “An automotive version of _ _ _ _ _ _, with more competitive elements and dramatic conclusion. I don't want to use the title of the show we created. Being a reality show it's more about the action then the dialog.

I appreciate any help you are willing to give!

Post Re: Seeking Guidance

I can't offer any advice - but welcome!

I don't think there are that many people on here that delve into reality TV, so be patient. There was a short thread very recently about it, I think it was under K-TOWN, if you do a search.

Good luck!

Thanks Cshel. I will do a search.
Is shopping a reality show that different! Would you not follow the same procedure?

here's the thread he was talking about: http://messageboard.donedealpro.com/...ad.php?t=62433

i've had a couple of friends do a show for the discovery channel. i've never done anything like this so i'm speculating my answer.
three ways of shopping that i can think of:
1 - query tv producers who are actively seeking reality shows
2 - make a "pitch" trailer (see that other thread) and use that to market.
3 - do a complete pilot show and/or season and try and sell it to a cable tv channel
