I'll ask my friend what happened next and get back to you.

Either way, must have been bizarre to have seen ...

... unless that's the norm in Hollywood restaurants!

Wow, I remember hearing this story years ago. The version I heard had QT throwing the punches. Curious what your friend says happened next.

My friend and this producer were having dinner with Quentin Tarantino and QT didn't like what the producer had done to his script, so an argument broke out, in the middle of the restaurant, with both men standing up, yelling heated abuse at each other. Next thing he remembered was the producer "lamping one" on Tarantino. Tarantino went down for the count.

Everyone in the restaurant just stopped what they were doing and stared. Diners, bus-boys, the lot.

My friend said that not only was it incredibly embarrasing ... but totally awesome as well !!!

I would have paid a hefty tip to have witnessed that!
This was right before Jackie Brown started filming if I remember correct.

... and I think the person he punched was Paul Hellerman (maybe someone can verify this)

Do you remember what restaurant that was? I think it was Ago (off Melrose Avenue)

I think you're right about Ago, but I think it was Don Murphy who he decked.

Unless, of course, he ALSO clocked Hellerman.

I'd have paid big money to have been there, perhaps even sold my grandmother - it would have been fantastic.

I wish they had camera phones back then. This would have totally been on youtube. Well.. if they had youtube back then too. Or decent internet speed for that matter. Basically I wish this would have happened TODAY.

No "Crazy Producer" thread is complete without Kevin Smith talking about his Superman experience.

I now put a gay robot sidekick and have my hero fight a giant spider in the third act in all my scripts, just in case....
