    I thought "Apocalypse Now Redux" was an excellent argument for the original version. The additional scenes improved nothing over the original and actually diluted the impact of the rest of the film, IMHO.

      I think the only added scene from the redux I would have kept was the one where Duvall helps evacuate the wounded child just after or before he calls in the napalm strike. That, compounded with the regular sequences of him on the beach, fleshed out just that much more how much of a two faced psycho bastard his character was

        The Director's Cut of Das Boot is so much better the the original it's not even funny. You'd think you were on the submarine with them. His version is epic.

        Donnie Darko. Director's cut is better.
        Blade Runner. Director's cut is better.
        Just my 2 cents. It's a pretty subjective call.... right?
