  • Any Great Westerns To Recommend?

I've seen Rio Bravo, Ride The High Country, High Noon, The Searchers, the Eastwood Spaghettis, High Plains Drifter, and Once Upon A Time In The West. Anything else?

SERGIO LEONE!!!! Anything Leone. There is no better Western Director than Leone. Check out his masterpieces.

I appreciated Once Upon A time. I had to watch it again because it kind of blind-sided me. I originally thought Cardinale was going to do all the killing.

But so beautifully directed. Leone to me is the Kubrick of westerns. Very adept at creating atmosphere and suspense.

      And that reveal is insane.

Yup. Right up to the final shot too. Bruce Lee's Way Of Dragon wasn't only a western disguised as a martial arts flick, it friggin co-opted EM's Good Bad & Ugly score!

Aside from what has been mentioned...

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
            One Eyed Jacks
            The Proposition
            The Outlaw Josey Wales
            Pale Rider
            The Long Riders
            The Django movies
            Open Range
            Stagecoach
            Red River
            The Magnificent Seven
            McCabe & Mrs. Miller

... off the top of my head. There are loads of must see Westerns in my opinion. I wish they made more of em.

i loved dead man w/johnny depp (independent feel)
but costner's flick dances with wolves should not be overlooked (going mainstream)
