I think we'll see more of him doing his own stuff from behind the camera, hopefully making more films like Apocalypto ... but he really needs to get a handle on his problems, and whatever is at the root of them.

      Re: Mel Gibson: The end?

I watched an "interview" on TMZ last night where Eli "the beer jew" Roth was talking about taking a baseball bat to Mel. Personally I'd put money on the crazy old guy to take the obnoxious talentless young hack 9 falls from 10

That latest tape is CLASSIC. WOW!

"What? What? I need a woman, not a little girl..." HAAAAA.

"You need a bat upside the ****in' head" HAAAAA... Sounds like me and my 5th wife over Christmas break.

            Re: Mel Gibson: The end?

"I will put you in the rose garden."

Mel stole that line from Frailty, I think. I hope he doesn't think he's a demon hunting angel (I'm only half kidding).

After hearing the uncensored tapes today, I love this guy more than ever. The only thing that's weird is that, for someone with an Oscar on his mantle, the dialogue and acting is horrible. It sounds like a drunken soap opera audition tape.

I agree with Mel, though. This woman is a c***

Can't stop laughing at this idea, and then I feel guilty for it.

I listened to the first recording, can't bring myself to listen to the second, or third. But, in the first he did seem to be, underneath all the rage and violence and #$%# ..., a man with a broken heart.

I have been a Mel Gibson fan in the past ... if he truly cleaned himself up, and stopped being abusive (to anyone, and/or any groups of people), I could probably be again. That's a big if.

Mad Mel: cartoon character or seriously troubled man?...

To me it seems strange how US cartoon series parodies like Family Guy's 5 year old ep and the South Park bits are more like the "real" Gibson then anything else.
The guy sounds like a complete whack-job. He also appears to be violent, racist and unstable too. How he worked in Hollywood for so long w/o cracking up is saying a lot.
Really it's just sad & pathetic that somebody with such talent & success in a difficult industry like the film-tv business really threw it all down the drain.

He should lay low and get out of southern CA/Hollywood ASAP.
If he keeps his antics up he will wind up dead or in jail.
I'd rather get bank credit, than screen credit.

It's what I expected to see when I rented Crocodile Dundee.

                    Re: Mel Gibson: The end?

Jeeze, it's bad. It's obvious to anyone listening.

Is his career over? I don't think so? Will the recovery time be long - probably.

But this was all on tape? His girlfriend tapped the conversation...that's the only thing I feel unsure about.

                    Entrapment?

We've all said stupid horrible things in our lives, thankfully (for me) none have been memorexed. Sometimes in uncontrolable fits of rage, I think people speak irrationally, leaning on their emotions first. It happens. It's been written in scripts, seen played out in supermarket parking lots - in traffic, between neighbors and even within family.

As terrible as the situation is. I feel bad for both parties.

Is it the end for Mel? No.

This guy's gonna end up doing a Martin Riggs and put a gun to his head...I think his life's bleaker than his career.

                        Re: Mel Gibson: The end?

It's not just one conversation. It's four. Mel hits a new low in this latest one, threatening to burn the house down because she didn't blow him before going to sleep.

It's a pattern of behavior. The guy needs help badly.

You know what's amazing to me is that so many people want to justify his behavior by saying, in effect, hey we all have our moments and we'd sound pretty bad on tape too. Seriously? Personally, I've been married for a pretty solid chunk of time now, and yeah, we've had arguments, but I have NEVER said anything like that to my wife, or to any other person, I have never ranted about minorities during a drunken DUI, and I sure as hell have never hit a woman, much less the mother of my child. There is simply no excuse for it. Gibson is a vile man and, personally, I don't care why.

I don't live in USA where these Mel rants are everywhere, and I'm not going to seek these rants out to listen to. I just heard bits that Entertainment Tonight spoke about. If I heard the whole thing, my thoughts may change.

I just think it's awful, on everyone that these have become public.
