What is the consensus as to the best contests to submit a spec TV script to? My script is not a pilot, but an existing half hour sitcom.

Re: Best Contests For Spec TV Script
If you're looking for the best contest to submit a TV spec, I'd go with Austin.
But JJ is correct...if you're looking to get into TV, check out:

-- Nickelodeon (http://www.nickwriting.com/),

Re: Best Contests For Spec TV Script
Okay, thanks.
As far as the fellowships go, does it matter that the spec(s) I want to submit are not shown on their network? I assume that it doesn't, but I wonder if the consensus is that they look more favorably on specs from their own shows (although, it could be argued that they would be more critical of specs from their own shows since they may know them better).

Re: Best Contests For Spec TV Script
It doesn't matter if the show is on their network. They're just looking for well-written specs of shows that are currently on-air.
Check out these as well:

Re: Best Contests For Spec TV Script
Kind of stupid question.
I may not be able to attend Austin. Would you still recommend submitting to it? Or would most of the benefit of placing/winning be lost if I weren't there to capitalize on any of the attention that placing would bring?
Again, this is for a 3 camera spec TV script.

Yes.
But if you have a TV spec ready to go (or will by 6/1), I say submit. It's one of the few reputable TV spec contests around and a pretty good deal at $30.
If you can't go to Austin, use this contest as a way to gauge what folks/readers think of your work. Not the best way, but it's something.
Not sure what your situation is why you would not be able to attend - but October is a ways off. Things could change and you'd be kicking yourself for not submitting.

Re: Best Contests For Spec TV Script
Highly recommend the trackingb TV spec contest based on their excellent track record with their feature script contest.
And a reminder - their final deadline is May 1st, and based on their site they've lined up some great industry judges from the TV world.
Their feature contest ranks right up their with Nicholl and Page for professionalism and opening doors to top industry execs. No smoke and mirrors.
