That was my thinking. You WANT someone to read your work. If you think someone would try and steal your work, why would you send it to them? Also, if you think that way, you are probably delusional and / or it is your first Masterpiece on the Merry-go-Round.

Nowadays there are many ways to vet industry folk, companies, etc. This site in particular does a good job of that.
