For the viewers though? I don't think the average viewer knows or cares who the writers are (unless it's maybe Mindy Kaling), and if the show is bad no level of built-in publicity or PR is going to save it.
the reason i said "and talent brings in the PR" is because sometimes the writer is the talent, and that does bring the PR, and viewers. (talent is net speak for actors.)

television is really complex. there are endless variables, many totally beyond your control, and a tight schedule that absolutely must be met. there's no rulebook, every show is different. knowing you have someone who is tried and tested and can handle that is a valuable thing.

      Definitely valid points. Thanks.

not to mention - and horse is dying a slow painful beating death here - multi cams are highly specialized. it is terribly rare that they'll even want to hear you pitch one if youve never pitched one before, much less write one. not many writers can go back and forth between drama and comedy. you do what you do. it sounds like you're a drama writer. so pitch what you do, in their wheel house. look at what nbc tends to buy in drama - loud ideas, remakes of classics, or pedigreed writers, skewing mostly male or male and female, but not tilted female.
