We'll see. We are going to try to lay the foundation before late June when his Summer coursework really begins. Loves movies, which should be a good thing.

okay, let me understand this... you screeny, got a random student to give up three plus months of his life with a total stranger to write a screenplay? He's never written one before? We need more details. Does he wear pk flyers?

Hand me that script.

Read my screenplay.
I give. Whats the difference?

Hand me that script ... refers to the physical object.

Read my screenplay ... refers to the content of the physical object.

You can hold, bite into, chew on, throw, or otherwise handle the physcal object; the screenplay it contains is, however, ephemeral, it exists in the meaning of the words in the script.

Subtle? Yes.

Meaningful or relevant?

Barely, and probably only to a purist or a very staunch linguist.

OK, but what's important is what YOU think, what you conclude.

I know of no source that even discusses the question in this way.

Ask yourself why there are two different words.

Each with its own meaning.

"screenPLAY" meaning a play intended for exhibition on the screen, written in the form of text using a given language and lexicon.

You can read it, buy or sell it, or produce it, but you can't bite into it with your teeth nor can you fling it at someone.

"script," meaning text on a page or pages.
