just want you doods to know the new sexy is...
    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31749_16...-10391698.html

50 year old julianne moore gets more sex in flicks than any other actor male or female today. there's something to be said about that and it shouldn't be overlooked. i'd rather see a j moore movie than any cruise or aniston flick.

electra luxx - porn star sex with everybody
the kids are alright - sex with a straight man and her wife
chloe - sex with a call girl she hired to sleep with her husband
the single man - sex with a gay man... almost
savage grace - sex with her husband, lover, and son that last one made me squirm
30-rock - sitcom sex with jack
boogie nights - sex with 14 inches!!! made burt reynold's jaw drop and phillip seymore hoffman pant.

who's writing sex for 50 year old women? you better jump on the bandwagon. demi moore (and a few others) is right around the corner... needed new material.

    Re: Julianne Courgar Moore

Whenever I hear about this I think of Charlotte Rampling in 2003's The Swimming Pool (57 at the time, I think)

I dunno, though. I think it's still a tough sell to >50% of the audience, and I've not written anything like it though the ladies are the main chars in 8 of my 9 scripts so far. Personally, I think it's a tough thing to write into your scripts, even if they have experience in such scenes earlier in their careers. But that's just me, I suppose.

Julianne Moore gets action with Amanda Seyfriend. Something isn't right here.

And almost sex with a cannibal (in Hannibal), and sex that brings someone back to life, literally, in The End of the Affair (at least that was my interpretation of that movie).

Maybe I need to age up my heroines - they are all in their forties now.

Ew. I've always found Julianne Moore gross. I'd totally have sex with Gina Gershon, Diane Lane, Monica Bellucci, Catherine Zeta Jones, Juliette Binoche, Sophie Marceau, Famke Janssen, Stacey Dash, Mary-Louise Parker, Marisa Tomei, Halle Berry, Salma Hayek, etc etc etc. though. All over 40. And have you seen LIFE IN WARTIME? Charlotte Rampling's boobs are still in their twenties.

                  THE BIG LEBOWSKI
                  BLINDNESS
                  BODY OF EVIDENCE
                  SHORT CUTS

and probably many other films I'm not thinking of.

                    Re: Julianne Courgar Moore

Maybe I'm just not as familiar with the younger actresses, but compared to Gwai's list, to which there is a lot to add (not as fantasy sex partners but as attractive, talented actresses in their 40's), where is the next generation? There is such a large pool of talent in that age range, but who is positioned to take their place? Angelina is in a category all her own so she doesn't count, plus even though she's younger than 40 she looks older (in a good way). Ann Hathaway doesn't seem to be quite the talk of the town anymore, I can think of a few others, but not that many.

Same goes for the men. If you think of all the majorly, majorly bankable stars in their forties, Pitt and Depp and Clooney and Smith and Cruise and Owen and Downey Jr. and Damon and Cage and a whole big bunch of others, and you compare that to the men in their early thirties or twenties, it seems to me that there is a gap. I mean, they practically have to cast Sam Worthington and LeBoeuf in every other movie.

Maybe it's just natural, because we've been watching the forty year-olds for twenty years, so we're more familiar with them, I don't know. And maybe I just don't watch as many younger films. Clearly the TWILIGHT saga and that one about music in high school must have created a whole new pool of talent.

It'll be interesting to see who the next mega stars will be (somebody please replace LeBoeuf!). Well, I guess there's also the whole Apatow gang, a lot of those guys are still pretty young and very talented. Although not exactly sex symbols for the most part

but none of these women (or men for that matter) are getting nearly as movie sex. she's the woman next door as oppose to the one who started/got work b/c of her beauty first... naturally.

Rantanplan, you noticed that too? No one tells 44 year old Robert Downey he's too old to rip off his shirt in Iron Man. Hollywood wants to hang onto old school stars like Clooney and Brangelina - no argument here, but they forget these stars age. Like fine wine, or not, they get older and keep working because their fans want more, and they have too much clout to be cast aside for younger models. So how do they perpetuate the myth that only college age kids can open on Friday?
Julianne Moore is incredible. I saw the trailer for A Simple Man and she's still gorgeous. Being 42, I'm all for the cougar craze that's all over popular culture.
What I have crossed out, I didn't like. What I haven't crossed out, I am dissatisfied with.

Yeah but that's because she likes the art house roles. And maybe it's validation on some level to be 50 and still asked to show your stuff, who knows But from the beginning she's been one of those actresses who has gone from the more mainstream stuff to the smaller markets on a fairly regular basis, so good for her. She's the dream actor for an indie filmmaker. A lot of actresses would be afraid to risk their careers on edgier roles, so it's not a matter of being hot or not, it's a matter of the choices they make in terms of material. Charleze Theron I think is another beauty who has made incredibly brave career choices. One can assume she's been offered a lot of mainstream roles, so probably it was a conscious choice, she probably didn't want to position herself as a romcom chick for instance --not that there's anything wrong with that when they're good, even Julianne Moore did a few, it's just that most of them are pretty lame.

if I'm going to watch a chick over 50 get naked and have softcore sex, I'd rather pop in the MILF Maids DVD starring Nina Hartley.

first of all you're confusing art house style with independent films. patricia clarkson has been the art house queen for many years and has more recently ventured into independent films with bigger budgets.
2nd - why assume every actress wants to do and is offered romcoms? she never fit the profile. she's a late bloomer.
                              3rd - lame?!!!???
4th - she's getting more movie sex than any romcom queen ever has

coincidentally - last night on TCM was "classic" cougar night with:
                              the graduate
                              a cold wind in august
(which i checked out b/c it was the only one i hadn't seen)
                              summer of '42
love, pain and the whole damn thing
