Agreed re: producer changes. Anyone who needs to know why you never allow them needs to go visit a favourite website of mine: StoryNotesFromHell.com

Me too. I thought Pickerman made the changes based on the CE's notes, not that the CE actually revised the script himself. Totally agree with what others have said about that.

Ok, so to prove how stupid I am ....

Why not?

What is the big difference between that and getting notes? I'm thinking that I have the original script on my computer so nothing gets lost.

I honestly was going to go off on a tirade but if you can't figure out what's wrong with it, maybe you're in the wrong biz.

Maybe so,

but I would still like to know why it is so bad to make changes in the script versus giving notes. So please tirade away.

If it would have happened to me before reading this thread I wouldn't have reacted if I'd gotten the script back with changes made in red instead of notes. I can't se why a producer would do i though, it seems like more job than giving notes.

Because if they can rewrite your script themselves, then of what value are you to them?

Don't make yourself expendable. I think that goes for most ventures in life.

If I had that ascii Picard facepalm nearby, here's where I'd put it.

Surely the issue is even broader than that? Do people honestly not care what happens to their works? As a writer, your work and reputation is everything. I'd be livid if some fool at a prodoco thought themselves entitled to mess around with the content of my script.

(not to mention the credit arbitration issues this could possibly create)
