Default Indie film contacts

I've got a low-budget script I think would be great for a small production company. Is there a catalogue or directory of indie-type folks for me to query?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately this free list is a bit dated (see center box) and likely only partially accurate at this point; Also, cannot vouch for all of the companies within.

http://www.surfview.com/seindlst.htm

You may be able to find the original source it was compiled from and get a more updated list.

Also, might be able to find companies through www.indiewire.com if you comb through some of their recent articles...

If you're going to festivals watch the movies --especially the shorts-- and then hang out for the Q&As. Then meet the filmmakers whose films you liked. Maybe they'll want to hook up?

uhhhh.. maybe because it has few locations, few characters, no fx, and a clean, simple story?...

Yeah, I know, I'm just saying, why put your script in the low budget ghetto? If it's a great script it will attract a huge actor and if attracts a huge actor, then suddenly it's a studio film and it isn't low budget any more is it?

So why does it *have* to be low budget?

For example, "The Pursuit of Happyness". My company could have easily, and I mean easily made that movie for under five million dollars. So, you could sell that script for 100k to someone who will make it for the 3-5m range. Or, you could sell it for 500k or more to Overbrook and it gets made for 55m with Will Smith and suddenly your career is on fire.

I'm sure you see my point.

It's a bit like STATION AGENT. And it's got few locations. I guess I just assumed that would make it more of an indie-type deal although, in reading your later comments, it could hang pretty well as a main-stream movie.
