Re: Game of Thrones (New Trailer)
Hey Lord, I am not denying the fact that the "F" word takes you out of the story, and you have every right to feel that way as a viewer. However, I'd just like to point out that you keep referring to the show's narrative as if it's set in a distant past that is part of our continuum. It is not. It is a fictional world with its own set of rules.
So you getting taken out of the story by the usage of the f-ck word should not be bred from what you assume to be a story set in ancient times. You are simply having a strong reaction to it because what looks like a story set in the dark ages is playing into your own preconceived notions of how people spoke back then versus how people speak now, which doesn't really apply in this case.
Personally, I have an easier time accepting "f-ck" in the world of GAME OF THRONES then I did accepting "frack" in BATTLESTAR GALATICA. And I loved BSG! But BSG was set in the future of our continuum and I had trouble believing our cursing evolved from "f-ck" to "frack".
