Default Priest

Quote:
Priest is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires.

Paul Bettany is Priest, a legendary warrior priest during the last Vampire War, who now lives in obscurity among the other human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities controlled by the Church. But when his 18-year-old niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires in the desolate wastelands outside, Priest breaks his sacred vows and ventures out to find her and seek vengeance upon those responsible, especially their brutal leader (Karl Urban). Priest is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, Hicks (Cam Cigandet), a local outpost sheriff, and Priestess (Maggie Q), a member of his former legion of vampire-killers who has otherworldly fighting skills.

One of those that could go either way... looks OK though.

This movie was awesome the 1st time I saw it when it was called "The Searchers".

Blatant rip-off or repectful homage? You decide.

Another Screen Gems production. But they have been on a pretty decent run over there the last couple of years. They almost bought the thriller I sold last year, they shoulda!

I just discovered that this movie is also directed by the guy who directed LEGION.

WTF?

How do you make a terrible, relatively unsuccessful movie and then turn around and make the same probably terrible probably unsuccessful movie a second time?

it's called a second chance. and they don't come cheap when it comes to reputation in the business. it is (2nd chances) quite common for actors.

the trailer just made me think it's another in a trend to mix westerns with other genres like cowboys and aliens.

My heart weeps for the term 'sci-fi' when I see summaries like this on IMDB:

".. a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller, is set in an alternate world -- one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires."

Set in an alternative world? Fine. Post-apocalyptic? Fine. But how on earth is it getting classified as 'sci-fi'?

Priest started pre-production while they were doing post of Legion.

The company liked what they were seeing of Legion at the time, and hired the director to do priest as well. It might be that they saw only bits and pieces, some of which were admittedly fine, like the final angel fight in the gas station.

In any case, Priest was a long way into production when Legion opened, and that was a modestly profitable - 67 million worldwide on a 26 million budget.

Fvck vampires.
Fvck Twilight.

Now, had this film been instead called Preacher, I'd have clicked on the link.
