Lots of female writers this time. And period films.
The logline for "Marlene the Divine" cracked me up.

Re: Nicholl 2016
It's good to see more women in the running. Sucks I wasn't one of them this year . . . (again). Know what it is? When you're a semi-finalist, every single phone call after September 1 sounds just like Greg Beal. Even my mom. That's my only complaint with Nicholl.
Congratulations to all. You did well.We gain our innocence by taking yours.

List of the winners -- good luck to them moving forward:

However, even as a sci-fi/action writer, I absolutely think Spotlight should have beat out Mad Max for Best picture. By like 10 to 1.I'm never wrong. Reality is just stubborn.

Re: Nicholl 2016
Greg, it says in the rules for the Fellowship that writers who have not earned more than $25,000 writing fictional work for film or television qualify. I'm wondering does that apply only to money received for work in the US film industry or globally?
I ask because I'm trying to get something going in my domestic film industry (I'm from Europe), so if I were to be paid more than $25,000 for work done here, would that disqualify me?
