Default Using your Pilot

So, I'm finally done with my original TV spec pilot. Am not sure what I should do with it next.

Should I start querying managers alone?

Bottomline: Where will it go and what is its purpose?

Anyone here with prior experience on pilots who can guide me into some next steps would be much appreciated. Thanks!

1) Is it as good as it can possibly be?

2) Is "as good as it can possibly be" as good as you can possibly be?

3) Is it good?

Answering any of these questions in the negative sends you down a very different set of branches on the decision tree.

Good points, stair.
1) probably not. I could dissect it till kingdom come!

2) If I had to lead with any material, this would be it.

3) initial feedback coming in is encouraging/positive.

Now what besides fussing and fretting?

I would query managers and producers who show interest in your genre (imbd is a great tool for that). If nothing else, your pilot can be used as a great writing sample, opening doors.

I know a few people will disagree, but the Black List has been a great way to get my TV projects out there (I've had several meetings and offers directly from the site).

Best of luck!

Hey dani,

thanks for the feedback about the BL. I plan on hosting it there and seeing what happens as well. Appreciate it!
