But what about Richmond's connection to Beau Soleil?

Remember when Linden emailed the guy who they knew was with Rosie that night? And Richmond's computer beeped?

And then Linden read the emails on Richmond's computer.

Didn't that seal the fact that Richmond was with Rosie that night?

      I still don't get that.

I could be wrong (my memory is hazy), but I think Richmond was seeing Rosie through Beau Soleil (or had seen here), but it was never confirmed that he was with her that night. They just assumed he was because he was soaking wet, and his tag was on the toll bridge to where she died (which was fabricated evidence).

It was confirmed that Richmond was "seeing" those girls before he hooked up with the blond campaign gal (so he says) which is why he had the Orpheus email.

But it was established he tried to kill himself by jumping off a bridge that fateful night. That's why he was wet. His suicide attempt was what he was hiding.

They showed footage of him meeting Rosie at a rally... but there's no direct link with him sleeping with her as a Soleil girl (I think)

            Re: THE KILLING returns

i'm digging the turn of events. don't really care about who killed the girl, but everything else is working: the "get off our land" Indians, the casino whores, etc...

that moment when the kid escaped through the bathroom window -- notice the set-up... "in case there's a fire or something".
and it reminded me of that moment in FARGO when, "He's fleeing the interview!" scene. lol!

I absolutely love this show and I don't get the backlash at all.

People are really complaining about red herrings and dead ends? Hmmph, you must not've watched Twin Peaks.

It's very easy to see The Killing (loosely) pays homage to that show. Sort of a 2012 version of TP just without the true quirkiness.

That might be what the US version was channeling but the original Danish version was far from Twin Peaks. More like The Wire. Without the glitz.

                  Re: THE KILLING returns

Just watched the second Danish series (only 10 epidoes in this one). It's excellent, though not quite up there with the first, which would be very difficult to match.

I haven't seen the US series, but it's interesting that they've stretched the original Danish series from 20 episodes to 26.

Ditto. I think this season is fantastic, even better than the first. Love this show.

Where did you watch it? I cannot find the original series on netflix.

In Australia. It was shown on our muticultural TV channel, SBS, and they also have the DVD available: http://www.sbs.com.au/shop/product/c...ries-1-Box-Set

Not sure if they ship overseas, but you would need a multi-region player if they do.

A friend of mine in the US says it's not available there at all.

I love Joel Kinnamon (Holder). Every single line he says cracks me up. Honestly, what a find. So authentic.

I think it's been slow going this season so far, but then the screen will read "DAY 23" or something and I think there's some huge character arcs being shoved forward for it only being 23 days. Mainly the politician -- to be shot, paralyzed, and already back to his fighting spirit. I dunno -- I think that means he had like one whole day of self doubt/self-pity and then, boom, "Yeah, I'm okay, let's win the election!!"

I'm convinced Linden's "Sonoma" guy is the killer -- they've mined everything else, he's the only logical one left. (kidding).

I love Holder as well. What a great character. Probably one of the more interesting characters on TV right now - if this show continues next year, I hope he remains a central point.

I continue to watch this show on DVR in 20 minutes, fast-forwarding through anything not containing Linden or Holder, and it continues to be far more rewarding that way.

The evil/mystical Native American plot was offensive and stupid. I mean, aren't there Scooby Doo episodes with that plotline? Terrible.

Other than that, I've thought this season has been largely enjoyable, albeit maybe a little slow. Again, I'm only watching 50% of the material b/c I can't stand the Larsens at this point. I just like the main two actors, the style & tone of the show, and the photography. That's enough to make it better than most of the stuff that falls into its genre on TV right now.

Yeah, I'm disappointed in the Native American thing going on now too. I found it more compelling that Rosie might be a hooker with the escort service her aunt works for. You know, why would she do that? Who did she meet? What happened? To find out she was just a waitress/maid at a casino doesn't even make sense. They don't have jobs in town? She's keeping it a secret, why?

Ditto for the Larsens. But jeez, can't those two boys catch a break of some kind? Their sister's dead. Their dad is a screaming maniac, barking orders at them. And their mom leaves for zero reason. Now they're picked on and killing birds. I just want one scene where they get to go to Chuck E. Cheese for five minutes and forget their troubles. I'm probably not going to get it.

I still like the show overall, despite its many flaws. But man, Richmond's campaign manager is a chore to get through. Terrible actor.
