Default Studio pacts with Indian co. Reliance (variety)

Interesting indie developments for Dreamworks and a handful of other companies...

I'm excited that Dreamworks is returning to its roots. Usually foreign purchases of studios FAIL. Just look at what happened with Universal under two foreign companies. This just proves how GLOBAL the film industry truly is.

I thought the most interesting part was CAA's ties to the whole deal.

Keep in mind that Vivendi, the French company that bought Universal, had NO experience in the business. They were a water utility company in France. The Japanese company that had previously bought Universal also had no experience in the business. Sony, which bought Columbia Pictures and Records, had massive losses until they figured out how to run them.

Reliance, this Indian media company, is already in the film business, though in India. They seem to be using this in order to penetrate the US market. Spielberg might direct a movie that has at least one big Bollywood star in a major role. Seems like a good match up......................
