Default Reaction to a read at Bedford Falls

I don't know what this means. I sent a script and they passed, but told me to submit again when I have something else. Is this the standard studio response? Were they letting me down easy?

Call me crazy, but I think it means they like your writing. It's not the standard response. Usually it's just a polite decline.

It could just be a variation of the "it's not right for us" response. But I've received this from two prodcos who, ever since, have accepted most of my stuff for reading, without releases, even though they've passed on everything so far. It's nice to know I have a "fan" or two.

It almost certainly means they like your writing enough to want to see another sample of your work. Most rejections do not include an offer to submit additional work.

Thank you David, Catcon and Furious. That's really kind of cool news! /me heads off to quietly freak out, muttering, 'no pressure there at all'.

Chiming in late, but it's absolutely good news. These folks have enough cr*p crossing their desk that they're not inclined to make an open offer to submit again unless they really mean it.

And, in fact, when you do submit again, I'd remind them of the previous correspondence.

Congrats, debergerac. I would imagine that to be very encouraging. Now go get 'em with something else!

Question: Did you contact them via fax? I've attempted in the past to find an email addy, with no luck.

Happy Holidays to all, by the way.
