Oh, gawd... I think you win. I was watching that thing wondering if they used up the CGI budget on Milla's face and had to let the rest slide in the rough.

You think they were bad - wait till you see the Sabretooth tiger in 10,000 BC.

You're right. They used every blur and filter technique in the CGI industry - on her face.

After what I have read and heard, I think I'm going to have to skip 10,000 BC.

Usually I enjoy Emmerich's films for what they are. But this was disapointing in every sense of the word. The characters were one dimensional and flat - the story was lame - the acting was rigid - and the CGI was not what you'd expect with a budget like this. There was simply no one to root for and zero care factor.

ID4, Godzilla and Day After were much, much better than this tragic drek. And for someone like me who's into these kinds of films - that's really saying something.

Worst special effects in recent memory -first movie that comes to mind is Van Helsing.

One that's a little older - Spawn. Gah!

Oh, the effects in Spawn were BAD. That huge devil thing (Malebolgia?) looked like it was cribbed from some four-year-old's drawing of his nightmare.

In recent memory, the creature effects in I Am Legend took me right out of the movie. IMO, one of the best visual arguments for practical effects over CGI. That whole roaring with the extended jaw thing made me think of The Mummy... which is fine if you're making The Mummy, but it feels out of place in a movie that seems to otherwise take itself pretty seriously.

Spawn, I forgot about that one... yeah, that was bad.

Oh, and that second Mortal Kombat movie.
