              Absolutely. It was so damn sad that he and his character met unfortunate ends, making the film all too eerie and powerful.

                Stand By Me has been one of my favorites since I was a kid. For some reason, the scene when Gordy sees the deer in the early morning, then says "I don't know why, but I never told any of the guys about the deer", always struck me in a really unique way. Like it happens outside the scope of the rest of the film. A very personal moment out of time.

                I always understood why Gordy didn't tell anyone, but it wasn't until a few years ago, when I truly committed to being a writer, that I finally understood the IMPORTANCE of why.
