Have you seen the sales that was logged on 11/1? Comedy just might be the new drama.

Yesterday's Variety:
Berman: Comedy is king Par ramps up laffers to fill its lean pipeline A funny thing's happening at Paramount -- new studio president Gail Berman wants to boost its output of comedies. "Comedy, comedy, comedy, comedy," Berman responded Tuesday when asked what kind of projects she's seeking. "I love comedies." |

Yes. Two of the biggest hits this summer were comedies. That must mean make comedies. Someone get her a White Sox hat.

I read the variety report right after I posted the thread. How long does a president last at these job positions? At least five years right? plese tell me for five because I can focus on my comedies and commit to this genre for awhile. Good luck to all comedy writers out there. THIS IS OUR TIME TO REIGN!!!

But then great comedies have always been in high demand. How Paramount found itself on the outside looking in? I dunno (too cheap to afford Variety). As a comedy writer, am I excited? Not much more than I already am.
Remember, we still have to bring the funny. |

Okay, that article is free. Cool. But yeah. She's still going to be restrictive. Although with Jackass sequel maybe not so much. LOL.
We do have a chance. |

9/11, the Iraq war, rising fuel prices, unstable economies...no wonder comedy is king right now.
"Dying is easy. Comedy is difficult." Actor Edmund Gwenn on his deathbed. "The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think." Horace Walpole "Total absence of humor renders life impossible." Collette Chance Aquaintances "The only rules comedy can tolerate are those of taste, and the only limitations those of libel." James Thurber "Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place." Mark Twain "Defining and analyzing humor is a pastime of humorless people." Robert Benchley "Life is a tragedy when seen in close-up, but a comedy in long-shot." Charlie Chaplin "There are so many different ways lives work out, so many stories, and every one of them is precious: full of joy and heartbreak, and a fair amount of situation comedy." Sean Stewart BTN
