Default a good option agreement part II

further to my last posting:

what should I be watching out for in an option agreement to make sure that I am protected?

I'm thinking credits, rewrites, etc etc.

ps - thanks for your reply, Steven

You want the first rewrite. And you want, at a minimum, to be paid for the rewrite at WGA minimum. I think both my option agreements give me first rewrite at WGA minimum plus 10%.

I'm thinking you should write down your concerns about credit and rewrites, etc., and bring them up with the producer offering you the option.

That way everything is on the table and the two of you can work out the details as you go. An open, honest, upfront relationship with a producer can't start soon enough.
