Hi all,
I'm just curious to know -- how many in here have upgraded their Movie Magic Screenwriter to 6.0? (There is no poll function in this board, is there? I think it would be really interesting to make a survey -- perhaps unscientific, but still -- of the ratio between FD and MMS users in here, and what version everybody has...) /L.A.

I had Scriptthing, from way back.
I anted up for MM6 as shortly after it came out, and I love it. I've used FD. It's good program. I just like MM better.

I'm in UCLA's online screenwriting program and I was required to use MM. At first, I was annoyed that I had to use a program other than Final Draft, but after a little while I got the hang of it. MM is pretty good. Easy. And it does the job. Truthfully, after using both programs, they pretty much do the same thing. Either one you use, you will not go wrong.

I did. Took me a while but I've got the hang of the new outlining features and love them.
I still use mind mapping software, then I transfer those ideas to Screenwriter. Nothing like a mind map for throwing down ideas. But, yes, I did defect to Sophocles for a while. But version 6 of Screenwriter is great. |

Movie Magic Screenwriter on the other hand now has more features than ever before including the newer dock system and outlining feature.. I use both but that's me.. I use Movie Magic for most stuff because I appreciate all the extra features and editing options.. But I do use Final Draft from time to time.. Hey, best of both worlds.. I use Blake Snyder's Save The Cat" software to create a title, logline and 15 beats, take them over to a cork board and fill the remainder of the Index cards in.. Once completed I can export my semi completed script in ASCII text and import into Movie Magic.. Can place all kinds of stuff on the virtual index cards including scene ideas, dialogue and character arcs.. A bit like WriteBros StoryView but better.. I don't just use one sequencing method to outline, I use Campbell's Monomyth and Vogler's Writer's Journey too but the Snyder BS2 method is pretty damn cool being able to input all the information into the Save the Cat! software.. I love my Movie Magic, great screenwriting package.. Well worth the money.. EDIT: Movie Magic has recently had a 4th update and currently stands at version 6.0.5.89 |

I use MMS 6.0.5.89 as well
I still suck, but at least I know it's not the tools, but the user... great, more proof... ![]() |
