Maverick?

Anyone know any stories or info of them? They're very interested in my script. Thanks.

My experience is they're very quick on the uptake (call same day to request a script if they like the logline/synopsis), but totally nonresponsive if the script's not for them. They're a huge, well-respected company of course, so not responding when they're not interested I believe is pretty standard fare. They requested a few of mine by phone after I email queried, and were very polite and enthusiastic about wanting immediate reads. Didn't take it personally that my scripts weren't for them in the end. That's the business, and I was grateful for the encouragement (that my idea's didn't suck!), and the opportunities.

Is this Maverick the company Madonna owns, or the one in Florida?

Maverick is owned by Madonna and her partner Guy O'Seary, with Milton Shin who bought 40% of the film division last year.

They have a lot in development, but rarely produce anything.

Yes. Maverick films, they do a lot of low budget direct-to-video. I don't know anyone who has worked with them.

I see they want latino comedies. Is that broad comedy only? They do direct-to-video and that usually means broad.

I went there and I do have an urban comedy to pitch them. I couldn't find a specific link for *submissions* so I emailed it to the info@ addie.
