Thanks, guys. As you all know, it's nerve wracking going out with a spec, and I'm greatly relieved today.
No, this one isn't for me to direct. It's a big budget action-adventure - when I direct again, it'll be a comedy. |

Jeff, you didn't get the life rights to my story, so what makes you think that you can write about me or my father James, who in actuality was a stingy son of a gun who never acknowledged me as his own after his roll in the hay with my mother, the late ***** Galore.
But I can be persuaded for the right amount of zeros. Please have your agent call my agent. ![]() |

Hey Jeff,
I'd imagine it won't make too long a story, but if you have time I'd love to hear how it all played out. EJ

Yeah - who gave you rights to write about me and my daughter, LIMAMA?
I expect a big fat royalty check.

Disney Dreamworks Montecito Fox Fox atomic New regency New Line Paramount Mgm Sony Universal Weinstein Dimension CBS films Summit Overture Lionsgate Walden Since there was interest from a lot of producers, there was very little duplication of producers - basically it was a different one for each studio. As I said to you the other day, by Wednesday morning one of my main goals had been met - even if it didn't sell, I was getting read by a lot of new people, and that's always led to work for me. There are a couple of notable names not on that list - Warner Brothers, who we were told by the producers that had deals there that this movie just wasn't for. Gold Circle, who I love and just made a movie with, but they're not usually in the business of buying specs - they like talent attached first. Probably others. But even so, that's 18 buyers with a couple left off. You can see why I disagree when people say there are only a handful of buyers out there. ![]() So Wednesday, I just started sweating it and waiting for the script to work its way up the ladder at the studios. Wednesday night I get a call that a preemptive offer's coming in from Universal. I wait, the number comes in - but the offer's good for that night only. If we don't close the deal, they're out. Luckily, the number was in the range I was hoping for. A few little deal tweaks, and we closed. |
