I'm honestly not trying to be mean by saying this, but looking at the loglines for the scripts you've written - they seriously need work. These are not going to get you read anywhere, let alone the big 3. I mean what's next, you want a shot to play for the Yankees because you like baseball?

Fantasy script

After unearthing the goddess of witchcraft, an expedition must find away to defeat her, or else she will create hell on earth.

Horror Script

A young mental hospital patient must gain enough self control to defeat his demonic psychiatrist, or else she will claim the souls of all in the hospital.

Crime/Mystery
A lab researcher must get to the bottom of the murders of his coworkers, or else the woman he loves will be killed.

Comedy
After being tricked into leaving NYC for a small town in upstate NY, John must deal with a couple of homophobic coworkers and hicks in general or else he's lose his job and be chased out of town.

Fantasy script
A young girl must defeat the evil sorcerer who has imprisoned her mother, or else her people will be damned forever.

Drama
An aspiring actress turned prostitute/drug dealer must pick up the pieces of her life and get on the right path, or lose her family and all she holds dear.

No.

We can sell our work to whomever we want for whatever we want, though Guild members can only sell to signatories for sums specified in the WGA contract. The choice of who to sell to isn't covered under EEO law. As pointed out up thread, discrimination law covers very specific categories.

My agent's white. Maybe I should fire him so that I don't get sued or humiliated.

EDIT: After further thought, I'd also like to nominate this thread for consideration in the "greatest unintentional comedy in Done Deal history" category.

You know, there's a stereotype that people who work in show business often don't have the intelligence or education to hack it out in any other field. Many of you are an example of that.

The issue, is not whether my scripts are good or bad, or whether my loglines are good or bad. The issue is not what the industry says.

The issue is whether the industry's actions, in regards to requiring industry referrals to be given just to get read at CAA or WMA are legal.

The EEOC is investigating, and some Congressman are looking into the matter.

The film industry, regarldless of what it says about it's actions, IS NOT the final authority in this country. The federal government is, in terms of institutions, but of course the public can hold our elected officials accountable. Therefore, it doesn't matter what explanations come form the industry, it only matters whether the government decides in regards to how talent agencies procure their screenwriters.

Can you guys understand that? Your approval, or disapproval has no bearing on what the government decides.

And last but not lease, I never said those loglines that MrJones posted were good, I obviously would never have posted them on here if I thought they were good. That was a cheap shot that had nothing to do with my initial post, which is, is the requirement for industry referrals illegal?

None of you are experts in employment law (nor am I), so I'll see what the government thinks on the matter.

And that is the opinion that matters.

this is genius on so many levels, but perhaps sadly, none is intentional
