*blinks*

Forced to be played sorta makes me uneasy. And I'm no Creationist.

That, and the flick looks tedious.

From the trailer this movie looks entirely predictable, but I like the look of it, the people in it, the subject matter and I'm a big fan of Darwin, so I will be there.

It will be interesting to see how Darwin's character evolves during the movie.

It's a story that is very filmic, a fascinating and brilliant man who struggled with his own beliefs.

I went to the Galapagos last year and, man, you really can see how amazing an isolated world like that can be.

As someone who champions Darwin and his work nearly every chance I get in my courses, I look forward to reading and seeing this project. He certainly was a strong personality with many internal and external conflicts.

A friend of mine is an evolutionary biologist. He did his doctoral work in Kentucky and was asked to go on t.v. to debate some creationist. When he did so, they t.v. station ran a banner under him that said "Spokesman for the atheist faith."

Kentucky, being in the heart of the bible belt, is a tough gig for an evolutionary biologist. I've been asked to sit on such panels several times. The last coming from the pastor of a church who's a proponent of Intelligent Design. I delcined. I.D. proponents and the ilk use such debates for PR and to establish some modicum of legitimacy. Thankfully, they've failed miserably in the courts.

But you know them theories, germ theory, atomic theory, cell theory...they's just someone's faith, just like a religion.
