Are you kidding? So do I!

KL, I presume? I'm in JB, short drive to Singapore (but originally from the UK).

Excuse the digression. With only one script written (which I didn't even bother marketing), I have little to offer this thread besides drool and envy.

My query was a semi-cold email. My manager guest-spoke in one of my classes back in April. In August I sent him a short, sweet email letting him know who I was and gave the logline for my high-concept comedy.

I will echo what is said all the time here -- a good concept & logline WILL get you reads.

What's the best to put into the subject line of a email cold query?

"Looking for representation"/"Seeking representation"?

First part of your logline?

The script title?

"Query"?

Got my current manager off a cold query.

Putting in that you are looking for representation, to me, seems kinda redundant. Why else would you be emailing them with a logline? Just keep it as simple and straightforward as possible. Get to the point and get out. They'll appreciate that you respect their time.

Subject line: Title - genre

Should add, and I think it's important, that you can get reads from cold queries. But getting a good manager should be a result of good relations afterwards. I have several friends who signed with the first manager who offered representation and suffered through several painful and frustrating years not gelling with their rep.

I'd say that a manager gets lot of different mails, not just queries.

This is why I'm interested in the best subject line.

Don't want my query to end up in a spam filter.
