  • Drama series - written pitch

I have the opportunity to provide a 'two pager' to a TV production company. They're just considering ideas at the moment and told me they only want up to a couple of pages to give them an idea of what it's about.

I wrote a page about the main character, whose story the series follows, his journey and the major incidents along the way.

Then I wrote a brief paragraph about my vision for the series and referencing other shows with a similar 'feel.'

And finally, a paragraph each about the ongoing story in the first two seasons (including the cliffhangers at the end of each season).

After talking to them, I feel that this is enough (at this stage) and will give them a clear idea, but as this is my first attempt at a TV proposal I wondered if I'm missing any elements that might enhance it further.

    Any comments/pointers would be appreciated.

John August has some useful examples of pitch documents on his website. I've found them very instructive.

    Good luck!!

Thanks, SimAlex. Much appreciated and very helpful.

After reading through August's pitch documents, I'm feeling even more comfortable with what I've done so far.

I'm in the process of writing a spec pilot right now and i used those as a starting point for how to write my "bible." How cool is it that he posts that stuff for us to study?
