Larry David didn't miss a beat, based on the opening episode they are again in mid-season form in the first episode.
Susie Essman is cursing like a sailor, and Larry gets punched in the nose after recommending an alternate incompetent divorce attorney to the owner of the Dodgers (solely because he finds out the guy they mutually were using isn't jewish, causing him to lose the team). Only LD would include a scene where he ends up using a tampon offerred by a woman in the lobby of the building, to stem the bleeding. All lis right with the world again! With some first rate comics getting shows in the fall, it should be interesting if any of them even come close to the same class Curb is in. Last edited by SI_NYC : 07-11-2011 at 06:00 AM. |

Let me quickly say that I loved episode two. After the premiere I was a bit disappointed. Although the first episode was good (I would have a hard time coming up with a bad Curb episode), I still felt a bit underwhelmed given the many rave reviews that had been released on the web before the season premiere. But, luckily, episode two was Curb at its best! Can't wait for next week... Six days to go.

the scene in the supermarket where he reaches for the ice cream from another freezer door after being shooed away from the distraught woman standing in front of the case, had to be the funniest example of physical comedy I have seen in years. Don't see anybody else cloning scenes like this any time soon.

so far for me it's, meh. in the first two episodes it's not lived up to expectations. even last season was not as good as the previous.

The second episode is definitely a step up from the first. Very funny. Seeing Larry behave awkwardly in social situations never gets old, especially when he is actually being wronged, but deals with it in the worst way. The lady should not have been blocking the freezer door. The dog should not have been pooping on his lawn. The laptop guy should not have asked him to watch his stuff and then take eternity to return. These people are being downright rude, and the best humor in the show derives from Larry's inability to handle such situations.

This episode was a classic. IMO it was as funny as the SKI trip and Richard needs a kidney episodes.

I'm a non-practicing Jew and love CURB. But I sometimes wonder if more religious Jews (especially conservative/orthodox) find it offensive. Also, do non-Jews get it? It's got to have more Jewish humor/shtick than anything that's ever been out there (certainly in the TV world).
