the trailer has just been released....and feels really cheesy and disappointing coming from Scorsese (maybe it's a paycheck movie so he could easily do Silence). It could just be the bad score and editing from the trailer, but I expected something a little darker from Scorsese...i don't know hopefully the actual film will be different.

The f*ck?
Is the movie about Sasha Baron Cohen trying to keep Hugo from making Chloe Moretz stick her key up his Key Hole? Chloe"Is it a secret?" Hugo"Yes" Chloe"Good I love secrets" Chloe"Are you sure about this we could get into trouble" Hugo"That's how you know it's an adventure..." P.S. What's up with that soundtrack too? Seems like something they'd start playing when someones about to tell me about how I can save the planet through recycling. |

I was surprised when I saw this thread and thought, oh, Scorsese is doing a movie about Victor Hugo, I didn't know that. Imagine my surprise when I saw that trailer.

Darker? Less cheesy? How about Joe Pesci bashing the kids head in with a tire-iron?

It's a KIDS MOVIE. Scorsese has made countless great films. If he wants to do a childrens film I think he's earned it. Jeeze. I mean if you want dark and less "cheesy" go watch Taxi Driver. Go watch Mean Streets. Go watch Goodfellas. Go watch Raging Bull. Go watch any of the many classics Scorsese has already made. I liked this trailer. No it doesn't have Robert Deniro shooting pimps in the face or 12 year old hookers, but somehow I think that this is not that type of film. Just saying.

the story was kind of slow but i really enjoyed it. huge oscar contender in this weak season. it's a filmmakers' story flick so it's sure to get nominated for a screenwriting award.
