It was really good. My favorite movie of the summer by a nose over X-Men First Class.
Dragged in parts, especially related the Red Skull parts, but Chris Evans was amazing, the effect to turn him into a 90 pound weakling was fantastic, and the action all around rocked.

Eh, I wasn't as excited by it. It played it so safe that I felt nothing towards any of the characters. I admired it for trying to be nostalgic but I didn't think it worked.
It wasn't bad but that's about all I can say about it. |

I liked it....I coulda fast forwarded the first 15 minutes though and not missed a beat. Good dialogue and acting too.

It was like watching "Thor" although from a stand point of view of never knowing much about these characters I enjoyed it!
A big hit at Comic-Con 2011 I heard! We'll have to see about next year!? Cheers!

I'm not much on the superhero thing, but I enjoyed this one. Of course, I have a weakness for well-crafted nostalgia porn. Especially of the 40s vintage.
The only reason I bothered is that Johnston pulled off the era with The Rocketeer (although Disney fumbled the ball by not having Jennifer Connelly play Bettie Page, like in the source material), so I was curious how he do if he didn't have to work with Disney looking over his shoulder making family-friendly suggestions. So it was fun, and didn't even feel like a superhero movie. Felt more like a pulp adventure along the lines of Doc Savage. |

I didn't rate this flick at all.
I said to my mate months ago: I'll only go to ONE Marvel film and after listening to him go on about the Cap, I chose this. Actually, I ended up watch X-Men First Class on DVD with someone else and enjoyed it; I caught Thor too but I'll save that opinion for another time (needless to say that I was unimpressed). But, Captain America... Sorry, but I just didn't dig it. I also didn't like the motley crew thrown together to show that he fought for the freedom of all nations - to me, this little possee just hindered the plot. Call me old-school but I'd have preferred more kick-arse action and a proper fight at the end. 5/10 - totally middle of the road.

I thought X-Men First Class was pretty darn good. I enjoyed it more than the other X Men movies. Captain America felt like it was just going through the pre-avengers motions. It wasn't bad but it didn't make my willy jump through hoops. Wasn't a huge fan of Thor either. Neither Captain America or Thor were anywhere close to Iron Man and I'm glad they skipped making another Hulk film. Quote:
