Okay, since I've been ardently defending this show, I'll point out what WAS ridiculous writing. While I liked last night's episode, it was flat out inane that the paramedics just let the neighbor drag her injured daughter off to her lawn. Ridiculous.

My guess is the child will come back for whatever reason in a couple of episodes. Maybe to come play with the dominatrix freak in the black tight leather outfit. Apparently everybody dies and then pops up on the porch at some point with a sh!t-eating grin on their face....I'm gonna check out one more episode. If it's like the last one then I'll take it off my DVR recording schedule.

And the first two episodes were killer - really stylized, much more understated, the characters felt much more real - and the acting was solid, I was excited to see Connie Britton back on the air. Now it's back to generic TV writing & generic TV acting. That said, if it's going to settle into being a somewhat hokey show with weak writing and deliver some cheap thrills - I can really probably live with that. I'll still keep watching. It's just unfortunate that they gave us a tease of something more with its initial episodes. But, the arc of this show so far is very much like The Killing in terms of its ability to promise one thing and then start to deliver something else. At least with this show, we have some nice visuals and some scary moments, which I guess is all I should be asking for of a weekly TV show. The Killing was completely devoid of value by midseason, no thrills, no suspense, nothing. |

Meh. Uninspiring again without much thrills.
Now I know why Lost waited 6 years (or, well forever) to give us answers (they never did). I feel like I already know everything about this house and the show. There's no mystery or suspense anymore. It's ridiculous how much a show can change from its pilot. Sure, there was some camp in it, but it showed some real style and finesse in those two early episodes, but it's fully embracing straight up campyness now. |

I debated on watching last night's episode but thought about the last two episodes and skipped it. I think I'm done.

Last week's episode was maybe the strongest one since the openers. Again, I'm just looking for some scary moments here - and this one had it this time around.
But still, even though it was strong on the whole, some of the writing is out there. The security guard non-chalantly letting them know that the crazy mistress who just tried to kill them busted out and got free and them not even really giving a damn...I burst out laughing at that one. |

Really??????? LMAO!!!!!! How dumb of a cop do you have to be to not realize a suspect has magically "jumped out the car at a stop light" without your knowledge? He doesn't really think that, but what a lame excuse for her getting away.

I agree. I almost stopped watching after the Halloween 2-parter. It was so manic, it made my head spin. The last episode, however, was the sort of slow-burn creepy writing that I think could sustain this show. |
