The kid's only 26, and he already has three sales under his belt.
From today's trades... "Director Shawn Levy is taking on a new adaptation of Frankenstein scripted by Max Landis (son of John Landis)."Now of course all you bitter S.O.B.'s are gonna scream "nepotism!". But let's face it, Chronicle, despite it's flaws, was very original. And Good Time Gang is supposedly great fun too.

That's awesome!
Nepotism, no. Probably the upbringing: All film, all the time, in his household. Being in Canada, one of my favorite stories is of Elwy Yost (movie host on T.V.) and his son, Graham, whose interest in film his dad obviously cultivated from an early age. When Graham penned "Speed", he was about 33. Here's a quote I dug up on IMDB just now: Quote:
Just thought that was interesting, since on another current thread "Gotta apologize ... that I missed these movies" someone talked about how they were unable to stay awake for that classic! |

Nepotism. Probably not with the actual buys and I'm sure he's a great writer but he's definitely got the contacts and the last name that keeps producers from hitting the delete button in their inbox.

After reading Chronicle and Good Times Gang I have to say this writer deserves every bit of success that is coming his way. He is a great writer and much more talented than a lot of the other the writers I've read lately. Nepotism is a bullshit claim, particularly from anyone who hasn't actually read his screenplays. These scripts would have sold no matter who his dad.

Chronicle was really rough around the edges, but it still absolutely hooked me. The kid can write. His success has nothing to do with nepotism.
