Default Another mini-slug question

My entire 2nd act basically takes place in an Arena. The only real locations are going to be a green room, two stages, a platform between the stages, and the crowd.

It's going to be a band on each stage that play back and forth, kind of like Scott Pilgrim if you've seen that move, but the scenes themselves seem way too long to just go with mini-slugs the whole time.

I'm kind of lost here. Say I want to bounce from the Left Stage to the Platform to the Right Stage to the Crowd.

Should I just be safe and use INT. ARENA - RIGHT STAGE - DAY/NIGHT/CONTINUOUS

only problem with that is at some points it's gonna bounce to a new scene every 2 or 3 lines.

and if I'm not already being too big a pain in the neck, can someone link me to an indepth intercuts explanation? would intercuts here be acceptable?

thank you as always.

While I do love in-depth explanations, I don't know that INTERCUT needs one. Try this for a simple example: http://johnaugust.com/2005/intercutting

In brief, you do a full slugline, something happens, a second full slugline, something happens, then INTERCUT - LOCATION 1/LOCATION 2.

As is often pointed out here at DD, clarity should be your goal and your formatting should help you achieve that.

I agree that if there are long scenes, minislugs to switch locations may not be the way to go - even if, so to speak, the same location switches were involved but the scenes were shorter, then you might want to use minislugs.

As for those short, 2-3 line scenes, if the jumps are from one stage to the other, I would use INTERCUT.

Slug them once as written to establish them. For get "INT." "EXT." Use time as needed Meaning...

ON THE LEFT STAGE -

JOHN makes all kinds of action packed **** happen. He fights everyone.

ON THE PLATFORM - SAME TIME

EVIL FRANK works the crowd into a frenzy. Or he fvcks a midget. Or whatever.

ON THE RIGHT STAGE - MOMENTS LATER

A BUNCH OF HOT CHICKS simulate sex, singing and sh!tting themselves.

THE CROWD --

Goes crazy, cheering for more.

You can continue to do it like this, or if you want to accelerate how fast you transition between the established locations you can continue the scene like this (assuming all the time is continuous)...

ON THE PLATFORM -- Evil Frank is losing his sh!t stomping on puppies. He looks over and sees...

THE RIGHT STAGE -- is out of control. The bichiz are shaking their asses.

THE CROWD -- is on their feet. They're getting rowdy throwing tomatoes at the performers, socking each other in the dicks.

ON THE LEFT STAGE -- John has killed everyone and is now writhing in their spilled entrails. He leaps off the the stage, through the air, over to...

THE RIGHT STAGE -- where he lands and pimp slaps some common sense into the hoes.
