I have a hard time disliking anything about this film. I'll leave that to the legion of internet cynics.

Black widow and Hawkeye gave a human element to the film, seeing as how Captain america's powers pail in comparison to Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man. We needed a few more down to earth characters who could play off of Cap's human side. I actually preferred seeing them in action knowing full well that a stray laser blast could have ended their lives.

I think the movie would have been worse off without them.

It wasn't their lack of super powers that bothered me. They felt like DC characters in a Marvel movie. The tone was off when it was just the two of them. Maybe it's just me who's smoking crack.

I would love to see a Hawk Eye / Black Widow movie. More so than another Thor or Captain America.

Definitely. Although in retrospect, I'm wondering if Whedon set out to make it so gawdawful on purpose. It's very camp. Low angles, voguing and camp dialogue. Like the 70's superhero template on steroids.

But when it finally kicks in, you can hear the engine begin to howl. In a good way.

Although the 21st century has pretty much turned Captain America into a real douchebag.

$80m Friday, potential for $200m weekend.

Feb and Mar of this year broke BO records, Apr died due to dumping ground movies... May looks great so far.

Both in terms of overall money, and number of films in theaters, number of theaters, size of theaters, ticket prices, ticket prices due to 3D, ticket prices due to D-Box, and national population.

How could BO records not be broken every month?

Transformers 3 actually had a very similar climax, very similar, and did it better, with a more real world grounding. It just seemed to have more integrity. Not to bag on Avengers, which was fun as ****.

Michael Bay has perfected big, dumb and fun to a science. He catches a lot of **** but for what he does he's at the top of his game. He knows how to deliver what his audience wants.
