Default Snow White and the Huntsman - Chick Flick in disguise?

Trailer looked super exciting. But as the release date nears, despite the epic action scenes, it's still...Snow White. Don't think I can bring myself to watch it. It's like My Little Pony with action. Instead think I'll watch MIB3 next time I'm at the theater. Anyone else plan on watching Snow White?

yea, probably is....but to be honest I'm going for the special FX, to see what kind of spin they put on the story as I know it and plus I REALLY like Charlize Theron. So I guess in a way it doesn't matter to me lol.

Snow White is definitely not a chick flick. The Brothers Grimm don't mess around.

We've been watching Once Upon A Time and trailers for Snow White and the Huntsman have appeared during ad breaks... which has been rather confusing. Most folks I've pinged didn't know anything about a huntsman angle in the Snow White story so that's confusing, too. The movie trailer makes me think someone was looking for a quick vehicle for the young actress of the moment, and threw together a medieval fantasy overnight. Shrug, time will tell.

You'd better not see it. I heard of this one dude who went to see "Beaches" by himself. When he came out of the theater, he had breasts.

The original Brothers Grimm story has the Queen order a Huntsman to take Snow White out to the woods to kill her and bring back her heart. But he takes pity on her and lets her go and kills a deer (or bear?) instead, bringing its heart back to the Queen.

Ya know, just a sweet little bedtime story.

Obviously they've decided to amplify the whole Huntsman storyline and make it a romance/battle story. Don't think we'll be seeing any dwarfs. Sounds fine by me. I can't wait.

The reason why I say it's a chick flick is because it is using the built-in audience awareness of Snow White from the Disney animated film. Only a minority of people care enough about the original Brothers Grimm tale to actually see a spin off that. Its selling point is that it spins what most of us know about Snow White from the Disney film into a fantasy-war epic.
