Title: Death, Jr.
Log Line: A teenage kid, who just wants to be normal, finds it difficult because he is the offspring of the Grim Reaper. His middle-school buddies include Pandora, who is afflicted by the constant need to open boxes, and Stigmartha, whose hands bleed when she gets nervous. Genre: Drama Horror This is a great idea -if it were a comedy - Stigmartha! Pandora, a girl who needs to open boxes -- how is this not a comedy? And it's in middle-school? So it's a horror-drama set in middle school? OK, I thought it was a great idea.....:rolleyes |

It does sound like a very cool idea--for a comedy. Maybe whoever's in charge of the Press Release screwed up the genre.

I thought it was a comedy too... I can imagine the stigmata teen girl "cutting" herself...at least the school shrink thinks she is.

Is it possible that there's a new gimmick going around where producers tell distributors that it's drama/horror while it's really dark comedy?
That might give them a chance to say the film appeals to the Scream audience instead of being forced to say that it appeals to the Death to Smoochy audience. |

I think you have a point, Steven. Maybe dark comedies just carry too big a stigma (no pun intended) these days. Easier to explain away comedy in a horror - ala Scream.
If that's the truth, that would be an interesting insight to a little of Hollywood's currrent thinking..... |

I like him being the son of the Grim Reaper, but in my mind the story could concentrate on his relationship with his dad. His buddies seemed superfluous.
