Is it just me, or does she actually have some decent acting ability in the tradition of Sonja Hennie and Deanna Durbin? I swear the girl can say lines

Don't get me started on Paris Hilton. Her lack of talent is the least of it.

I agree with Pen, Paris actually has some flare. It's hard to tell for sure in a format like SNL, but we'll see what she's made of in the upcoming HOUSE OF WAX.

I haven't seen her act, but the times I've seen her on talk shows (and the one episode of her TV show I could stomach), she came off as incredibly shallow and vapid. I know you don't have to be very smart to be a decent actor, but I think you have to have some tiny bit of depth and some understanding of the way real people tick. |

I think SNL is the perfect format to see if someone has any chops or not. In fact, I think it's a pretty good litmus test of a performer's ability to think on their feet and actually... perform. Unlike a movie with multiple takes, flashy camera angles and edits, etc. That said, I didn't watch this ep, so I have no comment on Ms. Hilton's performance. But I'm not a fan. |

I disagree with SNL being the perfect format to show off one's acting talents. The performers are often looking away from the other actors, who they're suppose to interact with, to read their lines off a prompter. Plus, the skits are usually over-top and broad. How often do we find texture and nuance in a performance on SNL?
That is not to say every movie role will bring out the Brando is someone, but if written and directed well, it could help one shine. |

Little known fact: someone in the future traveled back in time to create the word "vacuous," so we could apply a proper label on Ms. Hilton in the present day.
Considerate, don't you think? |
