  • Video Camera/ POV?

I want to write this scene where we see the action taking place through a video camera. After a minute or two, we'll go into the scene as normal.

How do I slug this/set it up?

    EXT. ALLEY - NIGHT

    Dood regards the Anderson house.

EXT. ANDERSON HOUSE - POV VIDEO CAMERA

    Another dood does something criminal.

    EXT. ANDERSON HOUSE - NIGHT

    First dood saves the day.

This is how I would do it.

    EXT. ANDERSON HOUSE - NIGHT

Dood points his video camera at the Anderson house.

    VIDEO CAMERA'S POV:

    Another dood does something criminal.

    BACK TO SCENE:

    First dood saves the day.

Deus' way would be my way as well.

/waits for TwoBradBradley to come along and lecture Boobs about why her question is inherently flawed (TwoBrad will say it's the director's job to decide such things, not the spec writer's; her job is to tell a story in as simple a manner as possible, almost like an outline in screenplay format, yada yada yada yada)

I was never one to pass up an invitation. That just wouldnâ€TMt be polite.

I donâ€TMt have a problem with Boobsieâ€TMs question. Itâ€TMs the two replies that are short-sighted.

Story is King. If this is really the battle cry on this message board then it must trump everything else. You canâ€TMt just ignore it when itâ€TMs convenient for you. This includes expressing your particular vision on HOW the story should be told.

If Boobsie had posted: â€I want to write this scene where we see the action taking place through the eyes of dood #1 who is hiding in the bushes.†I bet the replies would be different, yada, yada, yada (three yadaâ€TMs is the correct way to phase it.)

Itâ€TMs only babble if it somehow erodes your belief system and you need to disagree with it.

But if you do agree with it, it would be my lucky day. I get invited to your â€boys only†club that meets in the tree house your daddy built in your back yard.

I'd do it the same was as proposed by deus. In fact, I have.

Nice when that video camera POV is germane to the story.

I don't. My writing's bad enough as it is.
