What's the Hook?

What is the hook is often asked when somebody posts a logline or story summation. So what is the hook of a story? I recently had someone tell me that I needed to find the hook of a story when I posted a logline.

It was my "Mars God of War" two sentence or so summation.

The hook? IMO it's the concept that hooks the reader into -- well -- reading your script.

It's the element of a concept/premise that elevates it to a "movie" (imo). "Die Hard" is just cops and robbers without the hook of "trapped by terrorists in a skyscraper on Xmas eve"
