I've seen references to "block comedy" in perhaps a half-dozen articles and writers' blogs, but I'm not clear about what it means.
I have Black Snyder's book "Save the Cat!," which defines block comedies as comedy features which take place in a limited area (basically "on the block") and thus are appealing to studios from a production cost standpoint. However, this is clearly not what is meant in the other references I've seen.
Anyone?
